Hello, I'm Bill Jinks, the school's Site
Maintenance Manager. Married with three children and living in the
local area, I have been a governor since January 2000. I was
approached by Jan Taylor (Rough Hay's headteacher from 1997-2003), decided
to accept the proposal and was duly elected. The main reason was my
interest in seeing that the best was done for the school by those in
authority to do so. My area of responsibility within the Governing
Body, not surprisingly, is the maintenance of the school structure. I
like to feel the money allocated is spent wisely.
I enjoy all aspects of DIY (helping to build my son's house is one way to
keep my hand in!), but also like to relax at the weekends in my caravan.
As a member of
English Heritage
, visiting places and
buildings of interest is another favourite pastime. I have no
particular claims to fame, though I did feature in the
local
newspaper
one year when I
worked a 25-hour shift (working for Sandwell Council) gritting the roads to
help clear them of snow! That, and the birth of my first child,
Christopher, are probably my most memorable moments.
