Sporting Experience

Horse riding, Year 5 – Bournevale Stables

Bournevale Stables have the added bonus of an indoor arena where pupils learn to ride.  The mirrors around the arena enabled them to check their posture and improve their technique on how to ride correctly.  Heels down and sitting up straight as well as steering on a moving horse is not as easy as you think but our Year 5 have done an amazing job.  A big thank you to Bournevale Stables staff who are friendly, patient, understanding and make lessons fun and inclusive. Instructors at the stables are fully qualified BHS (British Horse Society) instructors.

The riding school gave a Rosette Award to Kyle Crutchley for the following Sports Values, Determination and Self Belief.

Gymnastics Competition results 2017

The following results for Rough Hay's Gymnastics Team are out of 27 schools in the Walsall area

Year 1/2 team - 7th position

Year 3/4 team - 13th position

Year 5/6 team - 23rd position

Rough Hay's teams have been practising during lunchtimes for the competition. Each year groups have to follow a strict routine and remember it. They even took the routine papers home to practice. These results are a big improvement from last year and we are all very proud of your dedication and effort, keep up the good work Team Rough Hay!

Well done to all that represented their schools in this brilliant yearly competition and a big thank you to Walsall Gymnastics Club for the use of their facilities and how well organised everything was.

Olympic Themed Sports Day KS1/2 July 2016

The Olympic torch was passed around the field (supported by music - Chariots of Fire) by one child from each class to begin the games.

Children competed in races and a parent race at the end went down a treat.
